Happy 1st Birthday, Libby!!

Happy 1st birthday sweet girl!!

WOW! Today I am a ball of emotions - I go back and forth between being SO SO SO happy to have you in our lives and then totally shocked that you aren't a little baby anymore. I do not know where the time went. But I do know this Libs - you are such a gift to mommy and daddy. We love you so much! You are the teeniest bundle of joy and personality. We could not have dreamed that you would be this wonderful. We are so thankful to be your parents and amazed that it's been one whole year. God is good.

At this very moment, I am watching you on the monitor just rolling around and talking to yourself in your crib. I put you down for your morning nap an hour ago. You see, mommy and daddy took you to get your first donut this morning since you are the birthday girl. Can we say sugar high?? Ha. But let me tell you, watching you enjoy that donut was well worth this unfortunate nap situation.

12 month stats
-around 18 lbs (we go to the doctor next week)
-size 3 diapers...honestly we just went ahead and switched because we ran out of size 2 and have two giant boxes of size 3. But they are rather huge on you, you TEENY thing.
-size 6-12 month or 9 month clothes
-still taking 2 naps for anywhere from 1.5- 2 hours each
-finally mastered the sippy cup...thank goodness
-drinks anywhere from 4-5 oz, 4xday. You just don't have much interest in your bottles...never really have. I guess this will make it easier to wean off of them??
-loves ALL food. And that's not an exaggeration.
-you got 2 more teeth on the top! They still aren't in all the way quite yet though. So that's a total of 6 teeth at 1 year.

So little girl, it seems that since you mastered walking pretty well you were ready to move on to talking this month!! And now you do it all the time. You are constantly babbling and we absolutely love it. But you do say some real words as well including: daddy, doggy, uh oh, wow, hello, go, and most recently mama...it's about time, Libs :) I have a feeling you are going to be very verbal.

You've also mastered some new tricks this month including blowing kisses as well as walking over and giving us hugs if we ask for them! You've also gotten pretty good at throwing the tennis ball and you especially love to throw it to Howie. Oh and Libby, you love to bring things to me...the remote, my phone, my shoe, your toys. Always toddling over with some present for me...it is precious. You also love to PLAY! Peek a boo, chase with daddy, putting your stuffed animals in the laundry basket and taking them out. And you are a daredevil. You love to be upside down, spun around, thrown in the air, etc. You definitely got that from your daddy and NOT me!

It is incredible how much you understand these days! For instance, if you have something that you're not supposed to be playing with and I ask for it, you'll bring it to me. Not sure how much longer that's going to last but I'll enjoy it while I can. Or if you're standing up in the bath and I ask you to sit down, you'll do it. Also, daddy and I use the phrase "not for Libby" if you're getting into something and you totally know what we're saying. You don't always stop what you're doing but hey, you're only one :) One thing we are constantly telling you not to do is eat grass, dirt, rocks, etc.  So now we mainly go only to Coffee Park because it has rubber flooring and not gravel :)

Your love of music continued this month as well! Sandra got you a boom box (I'll explain later - this is a 90's term) for your room and now you will go into your room on your own and try to turn the radio on. A couple of times you've actually managed to hit the right button and I walk in to find you dancing. Most precious thing EVER. You typically wave your head from side to side, turn in a circle, bounce up and down and tap one foot a few times. You've got some stellar moves, Libs.

You still get a little shy in a crowd (totally understandable) but you warm up pretty quickly! At Papa K's company party you weren't so sure about all those people at first, but before long you were a total social butterfly. In fact, I'm pretty certain that y0u know when a crowd is watching you and you totally put on a show.

And I have great news! We ordered a thicker mattress on Amazon for the pack n play and you slept in it like a champ at the lake!! Woohoo. So thankful! In some not so fun sleep time news, you've started throwing your lovie and pacis out of your crib when you go down for a nap from time to time. But then you're pretty bummed that you don't have them with you to fall asleep. So here's a simple solution, Libs - don't do that :)

Libby, you are just a sweet, happy, funny, curious, lovable baby girl! We thank the Lord for creating you just the way you are. We have learned so much about God's deep love for us by being your mommy and daddy and that is a gift. We pray that you will know how much He loves you and that you will walk all of your days with Him, using the gifts He's given you for His glory. We are asking Him for grace and wisdom to guide and teach you and hope that you will see the love of Christ in us as we love you and each other. We pray that your life, the way you love Christ and others, would be a testimony of faith. We can't wait to see who you're going to grow up to be! Well wait, yes we can...don't grow up too fast :) HAPPY ONE YEAR!!
