Libby's 1st ballet recital!

Libby's first ballet recital was this past Saturday at McFarlin Auditorium at SMU and it was such a sweet and and special day! She has really loved the ballet class that she's been in at Dancing Angels since September but you never know how the recital will go with 2 year olds :) We went for her dress rehearsal that morning and she did not want to leave after it was over. I told her we had to go home and put on her costume and then we would come back! When we got back that afternoon we had some time to kill down in the tunnel before she had to go backstage. It was such a fun mommy/daughter time as we watched all the other dancers go by and Libby complimented each of their "princess" costumes. She was in heaven. Then she kept asking me "Mommy, when's it my turn? Is it my turn?" She could not wait to get out there.

Finally, we got to go backstage and find her friends! They were so giggly. It was precious. Then she saw her teacher, Miss Mary, and was ecstatic. She loves Miss Mary so much. I mean, look at that face as she looks at her :) So sweet. Miss Mary is a special soul for dealing with these crazy girls with such grace and kindness. Then it was time for me to leave her with the backstage moms and head to my seat. She gave me a big hug and said "bye mom!" before running off to giggle some more.

One of the backstage moms also captured this precious video of the girls giggling and dancing onstage right before their performance. Libby is on the far right side of the screen doing arabesques and twirls :)

Their performance was to a song called "Bee humble" so they were appropriately dressed as the cutest bumblebees I have ever seen! Libby was in the back middle and had the time of her life. She did all the moves and hand gestures and looked like she loved every minute of it. She did keep moving to the right throughout the performance since Miss Mary was down front doing the moves with them and she even waved at her at one point. Not surprisingly, after the performance, Libby did not want to the leave the stage. All the other little girls walked off to the side and Libby walked toward the middle and did a little bow before someone came and escorted her off stage. Haha, what a little ham. I love that girl so much.

During intermission we got to come to the lobby and see all of Libby's adoring fans who came to watch her perform! She is so loved. We are so grateful to have family like this. In true toddler fashion, Libby was not into taking pictures but we did the best we could. In all fairness, it was nap time :) Then we headed to Yogurtland to celebrate! It was a great day and so fun to see our little girl doing something she loves. As we were sitting there in the audience, John Paul and I both couldn't believe that we have a daughter old enough to be having a dance recital. Of course I got sentimental but it was so much fun and I'm so proud of our Libby girl!

Ellie ~ 9 months!

Happy 9 months, Ellie girl!

Another month older and another month sweeter, if that's even possible :) Goodness, you really are just a sweet baby. I cannot tell you how many times you are called a "doll" when people meet you! I must agree. So this was a BIG month for you miss Ellie belly! You started crawling! You are now officially mobile and you just make your way around the house all day long. I can hear your little hands slapping the hardwoods as you follow me or your sister around. Sometimes you get a little lost and make some noise so that I will find you. You can pull up to your knees but really have no interest in getting up on your feet or standing which I have no complaints about! We did go ahead and lower your crib though :) Oh and you sit with your legs straight out in a V, like in the straddle position...it's hilarious. You also started clapping and you really love to do it! It's the cutest. You have a scrunchy face that you make all the time now and it cracks us up. You make the sweetest little cooing and talking noises lately and I'm pretty sure your first word will be mama, right? :) Oh and you love mimicking us which Libby loves...sounds, facial expressions, blowing bubbles with your tongue. You're having a little bit of separation anxiety if you can see me but if I'm not in your sight, you'll pretty much let anyone hold you. Your cheeks and wrist rolls seem to be sticking around which is the best news because I'm not ready for them to be gone! I feel like it's all just going way too fast you with you, Ellie bug :(

Some things you love lately are trying table foods, holding your own bottle, baths with your sister, doing anything with your sister, going on walks, chewing on EVERYTHING, cuddling (the best), grabbing and playing with our faces, clapping and playing with your hands, grabbing your feet, taking your sister's stuff, finding stuff on the floor, throwing stuff on the floor and being held. You also ride like a big girl in the stroller now & sit in high chairs at restaurants which you seem to think is pretty fun. And you will notice that there are about a million pictures of you and your sister this month because y'all are really starting to interact and "play" together! It is so sweet how much you two love each other already. Libby is so proud to be your big sister and you just adore her.

And here are some 9 month stats...
-18.6 lb (45th percentile) (For all your rolls, you're not actually all that big...who knew?)
-27 in (30th percentile)
-wears 6-12 moth or 9 month clothes
-size 3 diaper
-sleeps 8:15pm-8:30am
-bottles at 8:30, 12:30, 4:30, 8:00
-yogurt for breakfast and either baby food or table food at (sometimes) lunch and dinner
-so far with table foods you've liked smashed blueberries, banana, string cheese, spaghetti squash, turkey meatloaf. Getting better at putting food in your mouth yourself but right now I'm still sticking it in :)
-tried giving you puffs and mum mums but no real interest yet
-still no teeth yet
-celebrated your first Easter!
