7 months!

Libby~
Happy 7 months, sweet girl! Another month has flown by and you are pretty much doing something new every. single. day. There is never a dull moment with you, little bug. Although daddy and I love watching you explore and grow, we both agree that it is happening way too fast. Don't be in such a hurry to grow up! :)

Your personality is starting to develop more and more and I must say, you are quite funny. The sounds and faces you make keep us smiling all day long. Your little grin with those two tiny teeth is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Your happy little coos and squeals are so sweet. And my absolute favorite thing from this past month is that you reach for me. Melt my heart, why don't you. I always knew you knew who I was, but now when you see me you get a big smile and come crawl over to greet me. It is the sweetest thing ever. It does make it a little harder to get things done though! And you cry when I leave the room, which is new...and I'll be honest, that's not very fun.

Here's what you're up to these days:
-Nursing/bottles at 8:30/11:30/2:30/5:30/8:30. Yes, here I am, another month later...still nursing/pumping :) However, you have had some formula mixed in with breast milk a few times when I didn't have enough milk pumped for your bottles while I was at work or while we were in Corpus. I don't think you noticed at all.
-Oatmeal w/ veggie & fruit after 5:30 feeding
-Napping from approximately 9:30-11:30 and 2:30-4:30. Your morning nap is very consistent. Your afternoon nap varies depending on whether or not you got a cat nap in the car, etc.
-Size 2 diapers
-Still in size 3-6 month clothes, you teeny thing

So what happened this month??

-You started baby food! So far you love sweet potatoes, pears, carrots, green beans, and apples. You're not as big of a fan of squash, bananas, and peaches but you'll eat them. And you like oatmeal way more than rice cereal.

-You started CRAWLING on December 10th! YiaYia Christie sent me a video while I was at work of you going after Howie and stealing his toy. I'm pretty sure he was your motivation to get moving so early. You love that dog. Actually, you love all dogs. Whenever you see one you get so excited! Anyway, now that you can crawl you like to be on the move all the time!

-You started PULLING UP! This really developed while we were in Corpus for Christmas. It is insane how much stronger and more coordinated you are getting every day. Now you just cruise around everywhere and pop right up on whatever you are near...the couch, my legs, the ottomon, your car seat, etc. You fall down all the time and it doesn't seem to bother you at all (except when you fall on your face...see below) You just get right back up! Way to go, Libs :) This new skill also led us to lower your crib for the 2nd time this month.

-You got your first real boo boo when you were trying to climb over my shoes on the floor and landed face first :( Those tears are so sad...

-You met Santa and you were mesmorized!

-You switched to your new big girl bath seat!

-You had your first Christmas! And went to Corpus for the first time (separate post to come later)

-You bang your hands on everything! Your high chair, tables, people.
-You look around all the time! You will sit and turn your head completely around in all directions to follow where your daddy is going. And peek-a-boo is quickly becoming a favorite activity!
-You can no longer sit still at restaurant like you did in the old days :( Sad. If we go anywhere that takes longer than about 30 minutes you get pretty restless and want to be free. I guess we knew it wouldn't last forever...
-You got a 2nd tooth! You've got both bottom teeth now and I think your top teeth are on their way. We've had a few rough nights of sleep in a row so I have a feeling we'll be seeing them fairly soon. You go to bed fine but wake up crying in the middle of the night. Daddy goes in to comfort you but you only want your mama. I appreciate the love baby girl but let's give Daddy a turn :) You like for him to hold you every other moment of the day except in the middle of the night. Awesome. But I do love cuddling you so it's not the worst thing. Hopefully those teeth make their grand entrance ASAP and we can go back to the good ole days of sleeping through the night! Until then, you'll keep on chewing...on everything.

Well baby girl, every time we don't think there's any way you could possibly get any cuter or more fun...you do. Daddy and I love you so much! We're probably going to be really tired from here on out from chasing you around but we are so, so thankful for your spunky personality. We can't believe we get to spend our days with you...you are definitely God's greatest earthly blessing to us thus far. You're awesome, little girl. Love you!

The Solid Rock

This song has been playing over and over again in my head this weekend every time I hear more of the tragedy that occurred in CT on Friday. My heart hurts for all those involved. Lord, help us.

THE SOLID ROCK

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
And I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
And all other ground is sinking sand

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
And all other ground is sinking sand

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
And all other ground is sinking sand

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

Faultless to stand before the throne
Faultless to stand before the throne

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
And all other ground is sinking sand

He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:3-5

With Christmas next week I pray we all truly realize the undeserved gift of hope that was offered to us through Jesus. Thank you Lord for sending Jesus to the darkness of this world to rescue us. Thank you that He's coming back to make all things right.

Johnny Heisman

I just didn't think it would be right to not make a post about Johnny Football. I mean, this is a big deal. I'm once again so proud to be an Aggie! In honor of this great achievement I have compiled my favorite photos and videos that I've seen since he won.
Gig 'em!

The Late Show?? Love it!

There's an Aggie billboard in TIMES SQUARE!! Crazy.

Hope you enjoyed this! :) WHOOP!

Overnight

So yesterday Libby could not do this.
And today she could.
It literally happened overnight.
We are so proud. And scared :)

At my mom's house this morning. She LOVES Howie.

At our house tonight.

6 month stats!

We went for Libby's 6 month check up last Thursday and here are her stats...

15.2 lbs (30th percentile)
25.5 inches (30th percentile)
41.5 cm head circumference (25th percentile)

Once again, Libby thoroughly enjoyed herself at the appointment. If anyone needs Christmas present ideas for her I would suggest a roll of paper, kleenex box or mirror, ha. Dr. Neeley gave her a wonderful report and said although she has dropped to the 30th percentile she is chubby in all the right places :) She got 3 vaccines and the first of her 2 part flu shot. We'll go back next month for the second part.

Her next checkup will be at 9 months and we actually already scheduled her
1 year check up which was crazy :(

6 months old!

Libby,
Happy 6 month birthday, sweet girl! You are half a year old...how crazy! I remember when you were a newborn and I'd see other 6 month old babies and think how big they looked. I thought it would be FOREVER until you were that big. But now it feels like I blinked and here we are!
This past month with you was so much fun little bug. Daddy and I just love you so much. You bring an incredible amount of joy to our days! We seriously just look at you and tell each other how awesome you are. We love being your mommy and daddy.

So here's what's going on these days...
-Eating 5 times a day (roughly 8:30/11:30/2:30/5:30/8:30). You're still switching between nursing and bottles when mommy is at work. But let me tell you, mommy is getting a little more tired of the pump with each passing day...so I'm trying hard to hang in there :)
-We will be trying solid foods TOMORROW! We'll see if you're a fan...
-You go to bed at 8:30pm and wake up anywhere between 7:45am-8:15am. You are an excellent sleeper which we are so thankful for!
-You have woken up a few times a night for the past week or so since you've been teething so we'll cut you some slack :) Thankfully you go back to sleep after a little rocking. I actually like it because you cuddle with me.
-You're on your way down to 2 naps a day. Usually they are from about 9:30am-11:30am and 2:30pm-4:30pm. Sometimes you still need a cat nap in there somewhere or in the car when we're out and about.
-Still in size 1 diapers. Although we only have about 3 left so then we'll move you up to size 2!
-Still wearing size 3-6 month clothes. You are a teeny little thing! We'll get updated height and weight next week at your doctors appointment.

You had so many firsts this past month!

You cut your first tooth TODAY! So now you have something to show for all the drool you've been producing. And when I say you will chew on anything, I mean ANYTHING.

Your arms are super strong now which means you are a big fan of being on your tummy! You basically roll to your tummy any time you are on the floor now. Being on your back is so 2 months ago :)

You started scooting around in a major way! You push up into the downward dog yoga pose and then kind of hop forward. You can cover quite a distance pretty quickly. You haven't quite figured out to move your arms yet which is a good thing or else you'd basically be crawling.

You can SIT UP now! This just started about a week ago. One day you couldn't do it...and the next day you could. So crazy to literally see you developing before our eyes. It's so fun to let you sit up and play now! Except you look like such a big girl :(

You figured out how to pull your bows off. I'm hoping this isn't the beginning of the end.

You swung in the big girl swing at the park! You didn't cry but you weren't really sure if you liked it.

You had your first Halloween. Sweet little flower baby.

There were also a few other fun developments this month. You finally get a kick out of peekaboo and will look for us when we're hiding. You respond to your name. You notice when we leave the room and you do not like it. Your hair grew like crazy...it actually gets in your eyes. You talk to yourself in your bed when you wake up which is the cutest thing ever.  And you really make the most hilarious noises lately. I think you really wish you could talk.

So what are some of your favorite things these days little girl? Well, a lot of things.
YOU LOVE:

To be naked...

Your bouncy seat...

Watching Sesame Street in the mornings while mommy pumps...

To cuddle with your lovie while you sleep...

The arboretum...we are putting that Family Pass to good use!

Your daddy...

You are the happiest, funniest, most active, most curious little girl. The smiles & giggles you give us all the time now just melt our hearts. I mean, how stinking cute are you?!

Libby, you are the biggest blessing to me and daddy. Such an evidence of God's love for us. We are so grateful to have you in our lives. We love you! Happy 6 months!
